If you distill and collect all the way down to 35% then you're actually collecting spirit coming out of the spout that is probably no more than 10% strength and has a lot of off-taste. Stop by the forums and have a chat with some of the guys on there, it's always the best way to learn and we don't bite! I thought that by putting some essence in the results, I'd get an acceptable spirit - NOT. I also figured out that you have to clean out the carbon filter every time. I was told that the column carbon filter I got with my Easy Still was only effective to 40% or so abv. So if I set up and run the wash the first time through the filter and end up with a 46% distillate and want to go for a second run do I use the filter? This part is confusing.
