Hi there, welcome to the StillSmart forums!

Please don't be shy - introduce yourself, get involved, help others and ask for help in return - it all goes towards building a community and the more you can contribute, the better this place will be.

A few simple rules - no insulting others, no posting spam, and my word is the law!

    Enjoy!

It's me Jim, but as the registration wouldn't accept "phantom distiller" I reduced it to phantom - which is what I'll allude to for any further input I may have (ha ha! due to make a couple of batches up this weekend).

Well done for building the forums though, brilliant.

p.s. Don't know how to get the damned avatar thing working though, even though I've put an image in there - whether it's to do with the size of the image or not (currently 73 X 73) ?

Looks like you worked it out - took about ten minutes for mine to show up, if that helps anyone! Good to have you on board oh mysterious Phantom! :)

Howdy from the Untied States (not a typo). I've posted a comment or two on Jimmy's site, but decided to join the forum, too.

BTW, I'm fermenting batch #2 (8 kilos sugar, water and Turbo 48)--going great guns in this hot weather. For my 6th run off the original batch (using my EasyStill and measuring with my new alchoholmeter) I did a straight run with no cuts of 1500ml. I got an ABV of 52%! I must be doing OK. Tastes fine, too--like strong white rum.

I can't see where one can add an avatar on the edit page. Can you tell me where that is? Thanks.

It's not on the edit page CC, you have to go here and store it there. There's instructions about how to get it working from the gravatar site.

    Wotcha Shutter Bug,

I'll say welcome because I haven't seen Jimmy around for a bit. These forums haven't been going that long - plus, due to the nature of making your own spirit (not forgetting the nature of the pointy heads at HMRC), it's quite a quiet forum.

As well as what Jimmy has written/posted here, there's also some reading over at Home Distiller. They have forums and a "main" site as well. They come across a little "back woods" at times there, but there's plenty of them who will help with any questions, same as here.

I suspect that some of the others here (like me) are registered/post at both.

    regards

    P

I ain't dead, or banged up don't worry! Thanks for keeping tabs on things around here Phantom, much appreciated. I've had to move house quite suddenly, and I need to do a bit of re-wiring before I can get myself back online properly so I've been out of the loop recently. Normal service will be resumed as soon as possible!

    Hi all from Australia
Just bought an Airstill and my will be distilling my first batch this weekend. I have learnt so much from this site already, so if i can't produce a good batch from all the info on this site there is something wrong with me.
By the way the temp here is 29c and it is Autumn, sorry i had to tell you that.
    Cheers
