Hi Jimmy,

I was wondering if you would do a post for our Distilling and Fermentation class happening in October. I know we are in the US but it looks like your site is one of the first that pops up when I type in distilling help. We are trying to get the word out in distilling forums and such. Let me know! Thanks

Probably best to ask questions like this in the forums, I don't always have chance to spot them and I don't own a T500 so in this case not sure, sorry!

Hi there, I have recently been reading up about the smart still and homebrewing, i'm off to uni next year so was thinking that making my own may be a fair bit cheaper than buying as I will have a fairly tight budget. A friend of mine allready brews his own alcohol but just beers not spirits. My main concern is what it is like to drink the base spirit produced? I know it won't taste that nice, but i have never been a fan of straight vodka. I was just wondering if it is pallatable enough to just to take the base spirit (40%) and mix it with the coke, redbull, lime cordial etc etc? I am allready preparing myself for a period of my life of cheap drink as most of my friends that are at university drink cheap cider (frosty jacks...) and cheap supermarket wine... I decided to take a year out and work as a barman so I have been able to afford much nicer drink over the past year. I think that making my own will save me money and will also be more satisfactory. If i find that the base spirit is ok as a mixer I will probably then experiment with flavourings and essences.

Thanks for any help you can give on the matter, Hugh

I'm interested in your stills, but am unclear about the difference between a SmartStill and an EasyStill. Could you clarify plase?

Kind regards
